Drivers are battling for position in the overall standings and pushing for a podium finish in this notorious 18 turn circuit.
It’s round 8 of the Michelin Pilot Challenge, live from Virgina International Raceway. Saturday August 24th 2019 at 2:05 PM, streaming live on IMSA.tv
With a commanding 9 point lead in the overall standings were excited to see Race for Relapsing Polychondritis driver Jess Westphal co-driving the Carbahn Autoworks Peregrine Racing No. 39 Audi R8 GT4. The powerful No. 39 has carried the Race for RP logo on its side during the last several races gaining a lot of attention and exposure while Jeff and Tyler were front runners, on the pole, or finishing on the podium. We really appreciate Jeff’s incredible support of the Race for RP program and we wish both drivers and the team the best of success here in Virginia.
Kyle Marcelli is no stranger to success at this raceway. Last year, while racing in the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship in the No. 14 Lexus, Kyle finished on top of the podium P1 in dramatic fashion. This year, our brand ambassador and dedicated autoimmune disease awareness advocate is back with co-driver Nate Stacy piloting the KohR Motorsports No. 60 Forgeline Ford Mustang GT4. The No. 60 boldly carries the Race for RP logo on its side panels and on the wings for an incredible visual display of relapsing polychondritis and autoimmune disease awareness. Thank you to KohR for your continued support of our motorsports awareness program.
And we have a keen eye on Race for RP driver Jon Morley in tomorrow’s race, co-driving the RoadShagger Racing, Simply Vegas, eEuroparts No. 61 Audi RS3 with Gavin Ernstone. The team has had an impressive run in the second half of the season with a class-leading 4 podium finishes, and notably outstanding maneuvers on the track. They sit in 4th place overall in the championship in the TCR class, but will undoubtedly be looking to push back into the top 3 while chasing another exciting podium finish.
Good luck and thank you to all of the Race for Relapsing Polychondritis drivers, co-drivers and teams. Together we are driving awareness about RP and accelerating research and treatments for all autoimmune diseases.
